Our complimentary wine for guests this month is the Seppeltsfield Grenache. The wine was made in the ‘joven’ style, meaning it is to be enjoyed now and has no oak maturation. The grapes are harvested from a contoured row, bush-vine block. This means all the grapes have to be hand picked and hand pruned. The Grenache was crafted through the historic 1888 Gravity Cellar. Built into the hillside on a series of terraces, gravity guides the flow of fruit down through the winery to deliver gentle extraction of colour, flavour and tannin.
Enjoy the wine, then a ‘must do’, is visit Seppeltsfield. Drive along the iconic date palm lined roads, enjoy the beautiful gardens, have a picnic from Benno’s kiosk, or choose to dine at Fino, visit Vasse Virgin, the JamFactory and all the other artisan makers. It is a fabulous day out!!
These little guys were found near The Hideaway Cottage.

The Barossa Valley Cheese Company is the success of the hard-working Victoria McClurg, who is also a qualified wine maker. After a stint making wine in Bordeaux, France, Victoria found a passion for cheese, the joy in sharing cheese with friends and pairing cheese with wine.
Since opening in 2003, visitors have been welcome 7 days a week at the Cheesecellar, to enjoy the cheese that is made on site. The Cheesecellar offers:
• the full range of Barossa Valley Cheese Company cheese products, local gourmet condiments, a range of perfect cheese accompaniments
• a viewing window and live stream TV allowing visitors to see the ‘whey’ the team live, eat, breathe and make our exceptional cheese.
The Barossa Valley Cheese Company has continued to grow however Victoria remains the chief cheese maker, trains all of the production team and still makes all cheese on-site.
They redeveloped their production facilities in 2015 and have expanded in the tourism retail space. This means they have even more space to create cheese and share their passion with their customers.
Dan is running out foliage wires in the young blocks of vines to prevent the foliage from rolling over.
Evan is about to commence another round of nutrient spraying and they are both keeping the vineyard mowed to prevent weed growth and encourage vine growth.
Irrigation checks (of the drippers and dripper lines) are continuing and irrigation is being rotated throughout the vineyard.
Here they come – baby bunches!! We’ve also had some rain, yayyyyy!
Read MoreMore like a craft than a production, husband and wife Paul and Janelle Amos roast their highly sort after coffee in very small batches with very big smiles: boutique, intimate and joyful, just the way they like it. Seasonal single origin, specialty grade coffee echos the boutique wine industry that surrounds them and their own patch of Shiraz in the hills of Seppeltsfield, where the Roastery comes to life once a week amongst the vines for the weeks fresh roast. The beautifully smooth Ethiopian Sidamo roast is our favourite and available in your cottage to take pause during your stay.
Take some of the weeks fresh roast home off the shelf from Nuriootpa Foodland and Tanunda Foodland, or arrange an online delivery from www.barossscoffee.com for a roast and post the same week.
