What’s on this Weekend

The best thing about cooler months is COMFORT FOOD! Those baggy pants and lose jumpers can cover a myriad of bumps and bulges, and there is plenty of time to lose it before Summer – right?!

Nothing says comfort food like a big, fat juicy burger. Saturdays and Sundays from 12 – 4 pm the legends from the south Portburger will be taking over Whistler Wines. Their burgers are amazing!!

Another great comfort food is cheese. Join Turkey Flat Vineyards on 5 July or 19 July at their cellar door for a night of melted cheese, wine and fire, as they recreate the comfort dish from the French/Swiss Alps, Raclette. Raclette is a traditional Swiss dish consisting of cheese melted over a fire and then scraped onto potatoes. Mouth watering!!

Our Winter Warmer Package is also full of comfort food – hot chocolate and marshmallows, hearty soups, comforting sticky date puddings, all accompanied with a nip of port or glass of good Barossa Shiraz. Non wine related activity

There are plenty of non-related wine activities to keep you busy here in the Barossa. Vasse Virgin located within nearby Seppeltsfield Estate offers hands on workshops where you can create your very own signature fragrance or natural lip balm. Add different essential oils to create your own personalized products. A fun experience to share with friends. The Vasse Virgin Soap Factory also has a stunning retail outlet with a wide range of beautiful natural skincare products based on the therapeutic benefits of olive oil.

A great walk to get in touch with nature, breathe and enjoy some exercise (or wear the kids and dog out!) is the Jack Bobridge bike-walk track. Start at St Hallett Wines and head to St Hugo or Jacob’s Creek (for more wine if needed!) We enjoyed a picnic box with local produce, a glass of wine and a rest on the outside beanbags at Jacob’s Creek Visitor Centre. The track winds it’s way along the river, weaving through towering gums, alongside native plants and vineyards and offers some beautiful vistas of the Barossa ranges.

This winter we are certainly having some cold nights and frosty mornings but plenty of beautiful sunny days. Perfect for getting out and about during the day and cuddling up next to the cosy fire at night. Plan your Barossa winter getaway now…have you seen our great value Winter Warmer package? Regeneration

This week, we’ll begin planting the next phase of our Barossa indigenous planting project. 1150 Barossa native trees, shrubs, bushes and reeds will planted around the property to help our continuous improvement of the bio diversity of the Stonewell Vineyards and Cottage grounds. Our youngest daughter, Elsie, 2, helped me collect some of the plants from Barossa Bush Gardens this morning!
By the end of next week, we will have planted 4150 Barossa natives over the last 5 years. Giving back to our natural environment is important to us at Stonewell.
