Seppeltsfield Estate

One of the Barossa’s oldest and well-known wineries, established in 1851, Seppeltsfield Estate is a heritage listed South Australian icon, a must for every visitor to the Barossa. The Seppelt property is an expansive complex of historic winery buildings and homes built for winery staff in the early days and now acts as a housing for barrels of Australia’s oldest wines, including the famous Seppelt Para Liqueur 100 year-old Tawny.

Over the past few years, Seppeltsfield Estate has been going through a spectacular transformation. Together with it’s picturesque grounds and beautiful historic buildings, it has been revitalized to offer a vibrant and exciting village for wine, food, art, craft and historical experiences.

In November 2013, Seppeltsfield welcomed the official opening of JamFactory to the Barossa estate, a contemporary craft and design studio, gallery and shop housed within an historic 1850s stables building.

Fino Restaurant and Food bar, opened at Seppeltsfield in November 2014 and is the newest addition in the redevelopment of the c1900 National Trust Cellar Door. The stunning cellar door space, designed by renowned architect, Max Pritchard, now incorporates an outstanding provincial restaurant with open plan dining inside and outdoor courtyard dining under the palms. The cellar door features tasting pods designed for visitors to enjoy a tasting with a personal staff member to guide them through the selection of limited release table wines and some of the most popular fortified wines. There are also a range of informative daily historic winery tours available.

Surrounding the stone buildings are beautifully maintained gardens with perfect spots for a picnic and BBQ facilities are available for hire. There’s Benno’s Kiosk where you can purchase a Benno’s picnic basket, snacks, local beer, cider and Seppeltsfield wines, drinks and coffee. (No BYO in the picnic grounds)
