Barossa Rail Trail
The towns of Tanunda, Nuriootpa and Angaston are connected by a shared bike and walking trail. The path from Tanunda to Nuriootpa follows along the railway line next to the Barossa Valley Way, which is the main road connecting the two towns.
The newest edition to this route, is the high quality 7km shared bike and walking path, which goes from the town of Nuriootpa up to Angaston. This section of the path starts in Nuriootpa accessed off Barossa Valley Way, just over the road from Penfolds. It follows the old rail easement and has a smooth bitumen surface and is an easy and picturesque ride or walk. Along the way there’s beautiful vineyard views, metal sculptures, and seating is provided at regular intervals. The path goes over high embankments and deep shady cuttings at the Angaston end. The trail ends at Angaston, just off the main street, where there are great little cafes and shops to investigate and the Barossa Valley Cheese Company is a must for an outstanding selection of local cheeses.
