2020 Harvest

Published on 25 Feb 2020

Sun 16 the Barons of the Barossa cloaked in traditional robes appear for the annual blessing and declaration of Barossa’s first season’s pick of grapes. A colorful street procession follows, with music by Tanunda Band leading the way up Murray Street to the rotunda in Keil Memorial Garden, followed by young grape carriers, wine fraternity Barons of Barossa, plus winemakers and viticulturists.
A presentation will announce the Barossa Winemaker and Viticulturists of the Year – emphasizing their unique services to the region’s wine industry.
This a 35 year old tradition, a public event and open to anyone that would like to attend. It commences with the Blessing of the Grapes at Tabor Church at 11 am.

Equally as important is the 2020 vintage forecast, made this year by Barossa vigneron Adrian Hoffmann, with grapes crushed in an original, 100-year-old hand-cranked press.
